Annual Meeting 2019 – Meet and Greet
On Wednesday evening we had 67 people in attendance at our Annual Meeting. There were 35 members and 32 guests. We recruited 15 new members (7 students and 8 individuals). We are now at 75 members!
We enjoyed a brief program and shared some information about the League and our local development and activities. The following individuals were recognized at the LWVMI State Convention and at this Annual Meeting for their service in four areas: Marge Forslin, Advocacy, David Allen, Strategic Planning, Judy Kitchen, Voter Services, and Sue Wilson, Member Engagement.
Another recognition went to Darlene Allen as she has been asked to serve as an appointed Director on the LWVMI state Board of Directors. The “We Can Dot This” award was presented to the behind the scenes Vote411 team (Karen Schmitt, Jane Pajot, Janet Joswiak, Kim Winokur, Joanna Mitchell, and Marge Forslin) and the “Green Thumb Award for Helping us Grow” was given to Darlene Allen for her instrumental role in helping re-establish the Marquette County League.
The members adopted a budget and priorities for the year and elected our first board of directors and nominating committee. The program was followed by an opportunity to eat some pizza enjoy a local brew and visit one of many LWV information tables. The committees and project coordinators did a great job having visuals to help bring alive our projects. One of our members set up a looping slide show of photos of our activities. The energy and interest level was high and there were lots of great conversations going on around the space.
