Powell Township Operating Millage Renewal – Shall the total tax rate limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be levied in the Township of Powell, in the County of Marquette, and the State of Michigan, for all general purposes be renewed, as provided by Section 21, Article X of the Constitution of the State of Michigan, by two and one half mills (2 1⁄2) of the tentative taxable value of all property in the Township of Powell for a period of five (5) years from 2021 to 2025 all years inclusive, for all township purposes. (this millage is estimated to generate $220,304.40 in the first year.)
Sands Township General Operating Millage Renewal – Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Sands Township, of 0.8973 mills (0.8973 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 0.8286 mills ($0.8286 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at up to 0.8286 mills ($0.8286 per $1,000 of taxable value) and levied for (4) four years, 2021 through 2024 inclusive for the purpose of continued operations of providing services to the Township residents, raising an estimated $69,866.00 in the first year the millage is levied?
Sands Township Library Millage Renewal – Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Sands Township, of 1.0000 mills ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value), reduced to 0.9998 mills ($0.9998 per $1,000 of taxable value) by the required millage rollbacks, be renewed at up to 0.9998 mills ($0.9998 per $1,000 if taxable value) and levied for (3) three years, 2021 through 2023 inclusive for the purpose of providing library services by the Peter White Library for Sands Township residents, raising an estimated $84,301.00 in the first year the millage is levied? Where the millage will be disbursed to the Peter White Library.
Skandia Township Renewal Millage for Library Services – Shall the previously voted millage for library services to the residents of Skandia Township, be renewed authorizing an ad valorem tax levy within the Township of Skandia, County of Marquette, State of Michigan, by an amount not to exceed 1 mil (1.0 per $1,000 of Taxable Value) to be levied for a period not be exceed four consecutive years, 2020-2023 inclusive? (This millage is estimated to generate $26,970.00 in the first year).
Skandia Township Road Millage Renewal – Proposition to approve the renewal of one (1) mill property tax period of five (5) years for the improvement of public roads in Skandia Township. Shall the total tax rate limitation on the total amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property in the Township of Skandia, County of Marquette, Michigan be continued in the amount of (1) one mil ($1.00 per $1,000 Taxable Value) to be levied for a period of (5) years from 2020-2024 inclusive, for the maintenance and improvement of county roads with the township. (This millage is estimated to generate $26,970.00 in the first year).
Tilden Township Road Improvement Millage – Shall Tilden Township, Marquette County, impose an increase of 1.00 mills ($1.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution and levy it for five (5) years, 2020 through 2024 inclusive, to provide for the maintenance and improvement of county roads within the Township raising an estimated $34,079.72 in the first year the millage is levied?
Marquette City – Senior Millage Renewal – The Senior Millage Renewal will allow the City of Marquette to continue to provide services for those 60 years and older through the City of Marquette Senior Center. Shall the City of Marquette, Marquette County, Michigan be authorized to levy .3500 of one mill ($0.35 per $1,000) on the taxable value of all real and personal property within the City of Marquette for a period of five years (2020-2024 inclusive) in order to provide quality services to Marquette City residents age 60 and older. This millage will generate approximately $239,138 in the first year.
NEGAUNEE PUBLIC SCHOOLS BONDING PROPOSAL
Shall Negaunee Public Schools, Marquette County, Michigan, borrow the sum of not to exceed Eight Million Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($8,500,000) and issue its general obligation unlimited tax bonds therfor for the purpose of:
erecting, furnishing, and equipping a new indoor practice facility; remodeling, furnishing and refurnishing, and equipping and re-equipping school buildings; acquiring and installing instructional technology in school buildings; and preparing, developing, and improving sites?
The following is for informational purposes only: The estimated millage that will be levied for the proposed bonds in 2021 is .99 mill ($0.99 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation). The maximum number of years the bonds may be outstanding, exclusive of any refunding, is twenty-five (25) years. The estimated simple average annual millage anticipated to be required to retire this bond debt is 1.24 mills ($1.24 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation).
The school district does not expect to borrow from the State to pay debt service on the bonds. The total amount of qualified bonds currently outstanding is $3,785,000. The total amount of qualified loans currently outstanding is $-0-. The estimated computed millage rate may change based on changes in certain circumstances.
(Pursuant to State law, expenditure of bond proceeds must be audited and the proceeds cannot be used for repair or maintenance costs, teacher, administrator or employee salaries, or other operating expenses.)
County Proposition Millage for the Continuation of the Marquette County Transit Authority (MARQ-TRAN) To provide local funds for the continuing operations and capital purchases of the Marquette County Transit Authority (MARQ-TRAN) on all properties within the County of Marquette, Michigan, shall the total amount of ad valorem taxes collected be renewed at and increased up to the previously authorized six-tenths (.6) of a mill ($0.60 per $1,000.00 of Taxable Valuation of real and taxable personal property), of which .5911 mill is a renewal of the previously authorized millage and .0089 mill is a new additional millage, for a period of seven (7) years, 2020 through 2026? The taxes collected the first year would amount to approximately $1,461,643.
