The Marquette County League engages in many activities and offers events to inform the public about how to register to vote. These activities include our popular "Hooked on Voting" program, National Voter Registration Day presentation in schools and community tabling events.
“Hooked on Voting” is our popular program aimed at “future voters,” where kids (and their adults) learn about voting by fishing prizes and voting for their favorite Lake Superior Fish. Events are held at local schools, libraries and community events like Blueberry Festival.
National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to celebrating our democracy. It is celebrated all year around by providing information on our election system and helping people register to vote in time for their first or next trip to the ballot box. At our school presentations, students receive information on how to check their voter registration status and complete online registration form if needed.
Community education includes visiting local civic clubs and groups to talk about LWV, generally, and to present voting and election issues.
